William Blake, poet, painter and engraver, died on August 12th 1827. Blake's poem Auguries of Innocence - which opens with the line “To see a World in a Grain of Sand” - was contained in a notebook and first published 40 years after his death.

In the Discovering Poetry group on Saturday morning’s at Mandeville Place we have been reading Auguries of Innocence and the other Blake poems (The Tiger, The Lamb and London) contained in the attachment below.

The lines attributed to Blake - “I have conversed with the spiritual Sun. I saw him on Primrose Hill” are now engraved in a stone semi-circle at the top of London’s Primrose Hill, overlooking the city of his birth, of his death, and of most of his life.
