Totally new at this. So here is my contribution for the day - I'll be happy to hear your comments, whether or not it touches that wondrous place.

FOR ONE MOMENT

From the garden gate, step into this oasis
For peace, order and silence abound
Far away from the bustle and groans of bonded life

Where sweet words folded in half flutter for food in silent dance
When the glistening orb calls the noon to table and angels to attend
Waiting for the king herald to proclaim his name

Be very still! The hour is nigh
All expectant under the porch for that unknown mystery to unveil.

Our Twin Towers

The One yellow-brown,
Standing proudly and defiantly,
Tarnished by wind, water and wars of words.

The Other marble-white,
Glistening between blustering showers,
Unconcerned, solitary & silent.

Whilst the streaked grey silvery flow rushed by, up and down,
Unaware of the turmoil within the house,
Whilst the streaming serpent of traffic, screeching and spluttering,
Hissing and puffing, waiting for red and green, red and green,

Whilst people strolling, carefree or hurried, harassed or angry,
Some to be soon mysteriously swallowed underground,
Whilst the pod-carrier wheeling at snail pace its wide-eyed charges
for a few pennies to heaven and back, to heaven and back

Whilst those circling helicopters above nagging, police awaiting,
cameras fretting, sirens screaming, banners shouting and buggy-babies crying,
Whilst the sky thundering in the distance with dark menacing packets
About to burst open hail and rain, hail and rain,

One single question arose.

One glance sufficed, through leaves and mist, those twin towers
Sitting side by side, alike yet different, one behind the other,
As if ignoring, back to back, back to back

One question arose.

Is this the land of our forefathers, that gentle-land of gentlemen?
Lord Temporal, Lord Spiritual, where lies thy strength of character?
So close at hand, yet so often denied.

O LIGHT OF LIGHTS

O Light of Lights
self-observing
watchful eye within all things

O mirror of the infinite
looking-glass upon yourself
from alpha to omega

O morning star of my soul
stirring early to steer
and nurture thy creatures

O fading light of years
gazing upwards to thy true abode
to merge and renew thyself afresh

O life and death, insignificant bookends
on the living continuum of goodness
life without end, amen.

A TOUS NOS AIEUX
PASSE PRESENT ET FUTUR

Aux mésententes de jadis
Je les laisse s’évaporer;
Aux haines de rancoeur
je les lègue aux oubliettes;

The following reflection was written by Odile on a recent Waterperry residential weekend:

SAXIFRAGE COLLECTION
(Waterperry, February 2014)

Fleur sereine des Alpes

flown by wands of winds

across the sphere of Atmos

to the land of the Angles

Brought down one fairy day

by golden droplets to sure ground

in tiny crack of rock to rest and lay

patiently waiting for proper time and place,

Silently drawing sustenance and warmth

for fine tentacles to hug its face,

to grow and bloom with mosaic perfection

pure leaves of joy, dizzily spiralling,

As if to say "Here I am, pure in heart,

dancing and beaming within

for I remember whence I came,

and nowhere shall I be but here

For you to smile at Me."
