another one from Kabir

The flute of the Infinite is played without ceasing, and its sound
is love:
When love renounces all limits, it reaches truth.
How widely the fragrance spreads! It has no end, nothing
stands in its way.
The form of this melody is bright like a million suns:
incomparably sounds the vina, the vina of the notes of truth

A beautiful line 'master musician of the universe'!

(Here is one I rather like from Sameer Pendse, poet and friend.)

Extremity

As I sit in silent immersion at my favourite desk
The source of all things high
Broadcasts the all absorbing milky white light
Sweeping through all corners of creation
Inviting souls to rise upwards in ascension in heartfelt chants of love;
The bliss of one and the bliss of the all
Merge into one as the sounds of Advaita pulsate loud and clear

In transcendental state of unification
There is no ‘I’, no ‘We’, no thought and no emotion; a state of limitless joy
And just then from the corner of the mind comes a lurking question
If this is only for the chosen, what of the downtrodden?

Those young children wandering through cancer hospitals
Or victims of abuse helpless in orphanage homes
Innocence lost, no hope and only a constant pain as friend
What crime of theirs was so heinous that fell to their ken?
Unending needle pricks and venomous mountains of torture

The sea of Advaita is silent
There is no answer it proffers
The ocean of bliss fades at this vision
The ultimate question is unanswered:
The futility of human endeavour
The eventual destruction of mans greatest works
Why this dualism do we have to suffer?

The cry of pain heard in the words
The unanswered questions, why oh why?

In the beginning there was only one
yet here you are, writing poetry,
we sit absorbing that beauty,
So.. what is this game play..duality?

I offer this humbly, but unreserved,
As to all the questions I have posed
there's only ever been one answer
made a bell ring, in my head, 'ping'!

It is in Sanskrit, a song we sing
"ruupam ruupam pratiruupo babhuuva
tadasya ruupam praticaksanaaya.." *
Ruupa is 'form' He took on form for us!.

In the beginning there was only One
And that One will forever remain,
Always One, One and the very same
'we 'always within the One remain,
'we' exist only because of rupam..rupam..

If there be no second to witness One
How would we ever know we had begun?
How could the bliss glory and majesty
be revealed, unconcealed, unless we see.
Rupam...rupam..

"Form by form, He transformed Himself
in accordance with each form;
that form of his was for
the sake of making Him known"..

(The rub is.. we were given free will;
Was that when God retired?
The rest..as they say is our history)
But it will again be all resolved.

The form of us all, yes everyone
The form of the sun, rupam rupam
Galaxies all will dissolve, fall
back from rupam into the One
Only ever Thee... enfolding All.

* from Brihadaranyaka Upanisad 2.5.19

An English translation

He transformed Himself in accordance with each form;
that form of His was for the sake of making Him known.
The Lord on account of maya is perceived as manifold,
for to Him are yoked ten organs, nay, hundreds of them.
He is the organs; He is ten and thousands - many and
infinite. That Brahman is without prior or posterior,
without interior or exterior. This Self, the perceiver
of everything, is Brahman. This is the teaching.

Songs of Kabir 11.75

All things are created by the Om;
The love-form is His body.
He is without form, without quality, without decay:
Seek thou union with Him!
But that formless God takes a thousand forms
in the eyes of His creatures:
He ia pure and indestructible.
His form is infinite and fathomless,
He dances in rapture, and waves of form,
arise from from His dance.
The body and mind cannot contain themselves,
when they are touched by His great joy.
He is immersed in all consciousness,
all joys and all sorrows;
He has no beginning and no end;
He hold all with His bliss.

SONGS OF KABIR 11.56

The river and the waves are one surf:
where is the distance between the river and its waves?
When the wave rises, it is the water;
when it falls it is the same water again.
Tell me, Sir, where is the distinction?
Because it has been named as wave,
shall it no longer be considered as water?
Within the Supreme Brahma, the worlds
are being told like beads:
Look upon that rosary with the eyes of wisdom.

Songs of Kabir
XLIX
I. 105

That which you see is not: and for that which is, you have no words.

Unless you see, you believe not: what is told you you cannot accept.

He who is discerning knows by the word; and the ignorant stands gaping.

Some contemplate the Formless, and others meditate on form:
but the wise man knows that Brahma is beyond both.

That beauty of His is not seen of the eye: that metre of His is not heard of the ear.

Kabir says: "He who has found both love and renunciation never descends to death."

Songs of Kabir
IV
1.58

Do not go to the garden of flowers!
O Friend! go not there;
In your body is the garden of flowers.
Take your seat on the thousand petals of the lotus,
and there gaze on the Infinite Beauty
