A selection of six lovely poems for Christmas -
Prayer (A sonnet),
The Pulley,
The Twenty-Third Psalm (A metrical translation),
The Collar,
The Elixir (Regularly sung as a hymn) &
Love -
by the Anglo-Welsh bard,
George, son of Magdalen,
otherwise known as George Herbert (1593-1633)

"Love Bade Me Welcome ... So I Did Sit And Eat" are the first half-line and the final line of Love
- possibly the poet's most celebrated poem
