Pope Francis has just issued a new Encyclical on looking after the Earth. It is the boldest encyclical yet from the Catholic Church on economics and our duty to care for the earth, the creatures, and one another. It can be read and downloaded at:

Thank you for this too Joseph.

I received the following concerning this from Earth Day Network:

Dear Friend,

One month ago on Earth Day, Pope Francis urged all people to protect the Earth, and called Earth Day a critical moment to reflect on the spiritual and moral imperative of all people to care for our planet and all of its creatures.

What an honor it was for me to be invited to meet and talk to His Holiness about climate change and its impacts on the poor. It was obvious to me how much he cares about these two issues.

"The relationship of mankind with nature must not be conducted with greed, manipulation and exploitation, but it must conserve the divine harmony that exists between creatures and Creation" the Pontiff said.

The Pope's highly anticipated Encyclical on climate change is now written and will soon be released. Over the coming months, Earth Day Network is working with faith based groups to ensure that the Encyclical has the greatest possible impact on world leaders. Ahead of the Pope's expected address to the UN in September and the climate treaty talks in Paris in December, Pope Francis is urging Catholics around the world to sign the Catholic Climate Petition. The petition will be presented to world leaders in December.

Letís all join and thank Pope Francis for his call to protect the Earth.

Yes, Leonie, it is most encouraging, and Pope Francis seems to be an exceptional man.
