Pot Noodles

Slow, slow down
Relax
Take a deep breath
Look around.

Movement and frenzy
Words People Actions
Meetings, Obligations, Liabilities
and Distractions - pulling you away from what to do,
inflicting the guilt of not doing enough.

Run ! Run and catch the bus
Or miss out on the ride of your life.
Rush from Holborn to Canary Wharf and back
Pop to the dentist on the way, before you pick flowers
for the half friend whose baby shower you must attend.

Starters, and mains and two desserts maybe
(One for nut allergy sufferers)
a new dinner service. Another chipped glass
left on the window sill, by the potted basil.

Peace! No peace even in the park
while you entertain cousins twice removed to the sights of Albert Bridge.
Or make a fool of yourself at a dance.
Or tell John Cage from Philip Glass, Stravinsky from Bach.
Perform Perform Perform!

Slow. Slow down -
Take a deep breath
Forget it all
Spend the day in bed.
