concerning a story that exists in a Holy book call the Bible. In this big book the story is called The Tower of Babel –
Story Summary: whole world had one language - one common speech for all people. The people of the earth became skilled in construction and decided to build a city with a tower that would reach to heaven. By building the tower they wanted to make a name for themselves and also prevent their city from being scattered.
God came to see their city and the tower they were building. He perceived their intentions, and in His infinite wisdom, He knew this "stairway to heaven" would only lead the people away from God. He noted the powerful force within their unity of purpose. As a result, God confused their language, causing them to speak different languages so they would not understand each other. By doing this, God thwarted their plans. He also scattered the people of the city all over the face of the earth.
The story does not have and ending in the bible, so I presume we are still in this mess. Is this why we have so many languages at present, and is this why in the United Nation, Brussels, world Bank etc..Everyone speaks but no one understands anything, and poverty and injustice is more and more each day. We spend a fortune in educating our speech but we forgot to listen. May I ask how can we put an end to this story?

This is a strange but familiar story.

Previous chapter (Gen 10) lists many of Noah's descendents, but also includes many references to several families, nations, tongues, and lands (v5, 20, 31, 32). Even more strange is the reference to the mightly hunter Nimrod who created Babel (vv 9-10).

Gen 11 starts with the story of the tower of Babel, but then returns to more lists of ancesters.

What does seem to be very significant in the mysterious passage are: v4 " ... and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the earth."
v6 ".... the people is one, and they have all one language ..... and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do."

Having recently been considering natural law (law that is inherrent in nature or in the nature of things) I wonder if this story can be seen as man's potential for arrogance through formulation of his own law, rather than attempting to discover and formulate natural law.

If we remember that laws of nature are there to be discovered, this very recognition will tend to unite. If we forget and get busy with formulation of man-made laws, there will tend to be division.

Man's role would seem to be best served through both seeking to discern nature's law, and giving the finest possible expression or formulation of it for the benefit of society.

This does seem to be very relevant to the world's current situation. There seems to be a dearth of clear understanding of how a nation's finance needs to work, and of how ignoring responsibilities inherrent in property rights of all forms always tends to inequities in the distribution of wealth.

This story will probably never have an ending, but will always have an end; man can only be happy, harmonious, healthy and free if he acknowledges, heeds and lives in accordance with nature's law.
